সামষ্টিক সূচকের ভিত্তিতে বাংলাদেশের উন্নয়ন দেখানো হচ্ছে এবং আমরা তা-ই দেখতে অভ্যস্ত হয়ে পড়ছি। প্রবৃদ্ধি বাড়ছে, মূল্যস্ফীতি কমছে, বিনিয়োগ বেড়েছে, রপ্তানি আয় বেড়েছে, রেমিট্যান্স বেড়েছে, ফরেন রিজার্ভ বেড়েছে এবং এগুলো সামষ্টিক সূচক মাত্র। প্রশ্ন হচ্ছে, এসব উন্নয়নের ফলাফল কারা ভোগ করছেন? অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়ন ঘটছে ঠিক, কিন্তু দিন দিন মানুষে মানুষে বৈষম্য বেড়েই যাচ্ছে।
